Because of the sync problems with FCP and the DVX100 do i need to capture the audio and video separate to be able to sync the audio?

knock on wood, I have not experienced any out of sync problems while using my DVX100. I capture audio right along with video.
Even with sync issues, you can still capture both at the same time and adjust their sync in the timeline; unless you're referring to syncing them up by some other means.

FYI: you cannot capture audio and video separate if it is DV footage. the only time you can capture audio and video separate is if you are capturing analog footage. the audio and video must be captured together if it is the DV footage, but this does not mean that you cannot adjust the audio in FCP. All you need to do is unlink the audio from the video track and then adjust it a few frames. Make sure that you do this only if it is really needed. It may not be needed on a shorter project, and i have heard that FCP is supposed to compensate for the audio issues on some cameras. I do not know if they have adjusted it for the DVX100.
