Can anyone recommend Micro-gyro mount and ken-labs KS-8 for plane footage with the HVX200?
Any other hand-held gyro setups that people recommend?
Specifically for the weight of HVX200 especially with a 16x9 wide or a Century 2.0 tele ?

Take a look here: http://aerialexposures.com/gyroplatform.htm
It is the same gyro that you are looking at, just configured and RTG. Remember you would need a gyro for each axis, so you would need 2. These guys rent them out monthly.

i made a shoulder mount for my hvx200 with a 2x then mount my ken lab ks8 under the camera . i can mount a 2lb 12v battery on the back to counter balance . then if you though that cool i mount a base that i mount my glidcam v8 arm to the shoulder mount to take the weight . with a controller on my left hand grip. then just mounted my new v8000hd moniter on the rig with a home made hoodman i had sewed up . shooting on the water or heli you can never be too stable. ps in stead of a battery counterbalance you can mount a second gyro axis . my buddy has a ken lab ks6. some pics of the shoulder and gyro at www.jetaddiction.com in rentals.

mounting my 5d with a 300 2.8 is with a 2x on top of my hvx200 with a 2x century lens works great ,once both lens are framed on target the same . i use a threaded ajuster on the mic shoe. i control and shoot the camera as i pan from a remote on the trypod handle. i now have them together in my pelican case ,then whip them out in one move and slide on to my tripod and shoot quick. getting faster at it. check out the pics in the tahiti slideshow . www.jetaddiction.com

very nice! Most of the shots look like they are from the channel, so I'm assuming the shore shots are from your custom rig?
It also looks like you are running a extender on the Canon too. Does the 300mm + the extender match up well with the HVX & the 2x tele?

most of the shots were with my old set up .100/400 and a20d had to crop a bit .now have the upgrade 5d with 300 2.8 is 2x. the trailer of 80 waves. is shot at jaws but was hand held with my old hdv sony. no gyro. you can see the shake. now my hvx200 with shoulder bracket ks8 gyro. if the heli has some where i can mount my glidecam arm .it srcews on to the top of the shoulder mount to take the weight. it is a bit much for a heli but when your at jaws or dunguons on the back of a ski you need all the stablization you can get. will put some pics up as soon as i get some.
