4.1 what is it?

Every now and then I get a prompt telling me to update to FCP 4.1 what is this update all about?

It's Apple telling you that Final Cut Pro version 4.1 is available. If you click okay it will download and install it for you. It should be free.

My question is what is the update all about. What does it include that I do not already have in 4.0 is what I am asking.

significant changes to 4.1 are:


-Performance optimizations for 10.3
- Frame Offset for synchronizing NTSC/PAL display with computer display during playback
- Support for XML Interchange format
- A source selector that lets Audio Mixer follow Canvas or Viewer
- 3-perf film support in Cinema Tools

On my G4 system, before I updated to 4.1, FCP would always crash whenever I went into the sequence setting. After updating to 4.1 it's been very stable. There are probably other fixes in the update that the vendor has not mentioned because they tend usually to mention the "enhancements." But it's usually a good idea to update because there's usually a fix for something. When there's really significant enhancements, they'll call it an upgrade and charge you for it.
