I have a new HPX-500 with the Canon CAC Lens, in the Southern California Region. I am doing rentals as well as operator work with it, and rates start at $450/Day, $1300/week. And I do HVX's from $150/day, $450/week. Feel free to message me or give me a ring with questions, 213-361-6673

Zacuto is renting the HPX is all sorts of packages. Their base price in $300 a day
I'd think you'd find it anywhere from $250 to $750 depending on location.

Keep in mind at $250 you may be talking body and recording media only. There are many options when renting, monitors/tripods/DTE recording, that support operation of the HPX so you need to budget for this also. And as vincent said the glass is going to make a difference also.

I say this to anyone who asks me rentals (Ive done my fair share), is make sure you rent the appropriate support equipment also. For example if your shooting on an HPX with some nice glass, whilst the manfrotto 519 tripod head can do the job pretty well, its no Vinten/sachtler for example. And thats just one component.

bobhope do those rates include you as operator?

Yes Zacuto's $300 is body only.

Those of you renting... How are you handling insurance? Primarily against breakage.

For example, if someone renting your 500 drops the camera and causes major damage, who pays?

Here's what I do for my side rentals. They sign a waiver, rental contract, invoice. Then they write me a check (50% to 100% or rental value). However if I'm really concerned about them, I have them write me a check for the full value of the equipment. Upon return, I inspect the equipment and void the check on the spot.

Also, I require them to show me their equipment insurance policy if it's a movie production or anything.

My package includes, body, Canon CAC glass (upgraded model over fuji lens), batteries, chargers, ac adapters, cases, sticks (currently Cartoni Focus, Sachtler on the way), 4 16GB P2 Cards. I am also available with notification as an operator for a little more.
