The Cartoni Focus is rated up to 22 lbs. I think I read somewhere that the HPX500 with lens was coming in at 16 lbs.

I like the Focus - we have the F102 package I believe, dual stage aluminum legs, and it's a pretty decent package altogether.
I have no complaints about the head, it's smooth, easy to balance and the locks work well. Same with the legs, I like the leg locks, they're secure and there's no question as to whether they're closed or not. Easier to adjust one-handed than most tripods I've used.
I will say that some of the materials / textures are a cheaper than most of the tripods I've used, (eg: the telescoping arm has a hollow/cheap feeling)... so while I can sense that this tripod may 'age' faster than some of the Vinten / O'Connor tripods we've had around for 15+ years, I still think it's a great deal for a great tripod, and since this time around its me personally buying the gear, I think it'll do fine.

The focus did just fine with the 500...but since I agian have broken my Focus i might upgrade to the Laser...just for some heavier cameras....

I've used my Miller DS-25 for XL1s, old school BetaSP w/ prompter, and now my brandy-new HPX500 sits atop it. Great head.
