On May 28, I purchased an HVX200 from B&H Photo in New York. After I completed my order, I was notified that the camera was backordered for 7-10 days. It has been more than ten days and I am really getting annoyed. I have called B&H everyday, two times a day since I placed my order, trying to find out when they would be getting them in stock. No one at B&H knows when they are coming from Panasonic...I find this really hard to believe. Is anyone else experiencing this problem or does anyone know what is going on with Panasonic taking forever to ship? Does anyone know of any other place that would have the HVX in stock (besides eBay), so that I can cancel my order with B&H? Thank you.

www.spec-comm.com You'll have it the next day. Talk to Andrew Hoffman. He's a member here under the name Spec-Comm. They are in MD so shipping is fast.

Apparently Panny had factory issues due to some natural disaster, so the pipeline has momentarily dried up. I think you can probably find one somewhere else, but B&H can only go on what they're hearing from their Panny rep.

Thanks for the advice. Will the HVX's from spec-comm have the latest software? The only reason I was sticking with B&H is because I figure since the cameras are coming straight from Panasonic, that they will have the latest software already installed. Even if they don't, I think it is still worth buying from spec-comm and upgrading myself, because I need the camera now.

Call them and find out. BTW its a simple update (takes just a few min) go ahead & buy you a SD card on sale somewhere and be ready on your end if the camera is not updated.

I went ahead and ordered from spec-comm and canceled my order with B&H. I spoke with Andrew Hoffman, and they will be upgrading the software for free. I wish I had known about spec-comm a couple weeks ago. Thanks again.

We're very sorry for your inconvenience and the frustration it's caused. Our pro-video buyer and his boss, our head buyer both know about this and consulted with our liaison at Panasonic who offered to give to the customer the Panasonic-product-manager's contact information to verify backorder status.
We said we don't know because we don't know. We're many things but not liars.
Barry's right -- the pipeline has momentarily dried up. We apologize.

Hi Henry,
I was not implying that the people at B&H are liars, I will continue to buy from B&H, however, this was an especially important and timely purchase. Because of time constraints, I could not take a gamble and continue to wait. When I called B&H on 6/11, I was told that they had an HVX for me and they were shipping it out same day. When I called two days later, I was told there was an inventory error and that they did not have a camera for me. This was a bit frustrating. In the end, B&H was happy to cancel my order, and apologized for the inconvenience.

You ordered the HVX cash, or you paid with credit?
I am in the market to get one just wanted to know your tactic. PM if you'd rather that.

You can easily get screwed or get misled by lots of jokers with startup sites but B&H isn't that plus their prices rock.

B&H has always done right by me personally and the corporation I work for. (besides having to pay NYC sales tax).
