Elmo Telecine Transfer Question

I did a forum search and found a lot of stuff about services but not DIY transfer. I have over 30 four hundred foot reels of 16mm film to go thru. Family stuff my mother shot in the 50's and 60's. Too expensive to use a service. I'm picking up an Elmo Telecine projector this weekend and have my DVX. I'll experiment on settings. Really, my only question is what is the best material to project the image on. A regular projector screen material, white board, or? Also, any other tips anyone has who has done this.
