i looked at the guys feedback and the only negative one seems to be the other guys fault but you never know.

I saw that as well and was tempted to bid to see if I could snag it cheap. What else can anyone say other than that it's eBay and "you pays your money, you take your changes." The seller's one negative feedback seems to be a nut job, so I think the seller is OK.

problem is by posting it here you just blew your chances of getting too cheap

you wouldnt get it cheap anyway. ebay is like any other retail outlet. market demand almost always drives the prices up to just under new prices (or over in some cases) sometimes if you hit a week with low demand you MIGHT get a deal. but thats not the norm...

too many times ebay ends up being "just slightly cheaper than retail but with no warranty!"

---just thought i would say i didn't plan on getting it anyways...if i am going to get one i am going to pay full price for something that costs this much. I'm not takin chances of getting ripped on a bad used one..who knows if something is wrong with the lens or something..he didn't post any actual footage from it and what about all the buttons and stuff...some may not work..it is too unclear i think

its funny. a few weeks back the folks over at cinevate werent able to fulfill demand for their brevis 35mm adapter. and people were selling them used on ebay for OVER retail. that was fun to watch...

Yeah ebay can be pretty dodgy, at least this guy is happy to do pickup (that's about as legit as you can get). I just passed up on a 4-core Mac Pro (tarted up to AUD$6,300 standard) apparently an unwanted gift new in the box and unused, the guy was willing to sell for $2000 so I got all excited.

However he said he wouldn't do pickup because he apparently got robbed the last time he did, I offered to trade outside his local police station or anywhere he'd feel safe doing business, but he refused. He wanted a direct bank transfer before he'd send the goods, wouldn't call me to discuss the deal and had ZERO ebay history (according to ebay he joined on 24-6-07). I decided it was too suss and let it go.

Who knows, perhaps I passed up on the best deal I'd ever get for one of these machines (I could have bought FCS2, CS3 Production everything I need for the price of getting the computer normally). But then is that worth the risk of transferring 2,000 into the bank account of someone with nothing to prove they can be trusted? I decided it wasn't.

very good thinking grugg. demanding wire transfer is the biggest sign of an ebay scam. add to that the other issues in your situation - wise decision on your part!

i have found that reasonable people will do reasonable things to move their goods. i bought a firestore from a member here and i told him that since this was not an e-commerce site that the only way id do it is that id send half the money up front and the second half once the item arrived and was tested. he saw that this was a way for us both to minimize the risks and agreed. all went well. i got my firestore, he got his money. sun is shining, birds are singing and children are frolicking gleefully in the meadow.

That's the first time I've ever seen 4-core Mac Pro new in box, and unwanted gift in the same sentence. That should have tipped you off right there.

Remember, the price isn't the price until the auction is over...
