Does the HPX500 have the ability to "erase" hot, or dead pixels through a menu ?

It is a service menu.

Hello,

I just recently bought a used 500. During my tests I notice a stuck red pixel. How do you access the service menu to erase or mask this pixel? I know on some cameras there is a combination of certain buttons that brings up a hidden menu. Is it something similar with the HPX500?

Well, Sony charges 1,000 to 1,500 to fix the pixels on some of their broadcast cameras. But, they had to connect some type of serial signal to do the repair. Many cameras use the black balance with a menu setting to fix the pixels. I believe one of my JVCs works that way.

Panasonic isn't going to tell you the hidden menu. I'll try to find out. If I'm shooting in a remote location and have this problem, I'd like to fix it. I'm also a video tech. and repair all of my equipment.

What kind of an answer is that???
"It is a service menu"
SO.........i'm guessing the answer is NO, Panasonic, unlike Sony does not have a pixel compensator

Paul

The kind of answer it is, is "it can be done, but not by the end user. The compensation routines are located in a service menu that is not accessible to the end user."

I've seen the service manual for the DVX... it seems that in order to get any of those service menus, it requires a special board that plugs into the camera, in some hidden slot near where the battery goes, and then into a computer. So technically if you could find the part number and find a reseller willing to sell it... then... But anyway, like I said I've only seen the DVX service manaul, so I don't know what the differences are between that and the 500 or even the 200.

so since this is something it seems the end user cannot do, is there an estimate on how much it would cost for this repair to happen?
